Berger Trowel Fine

A tough combination of durability, reliability and performance.

Trowel on is a heavy-bodied textured finish, available in a range of textures to suit every surface: ultra-fine, fine, coarse and ultra-coarse. A one-coat application which protects and obliterates concrete and rendered walls. Ideally suited to mask uneven rendered surfaces, cover imperfections and hide irregularities. Can be used as a one- coat finish to new work, previously coated surfaces and flush pointed block work.

Surface preparation:

  • New and previously painted surfaces should be dry and free from contaminants e.g. loose sand, efflorescence, peeling paint
  • Matt glossy surfaces
  • Wire-brush friable & flaking surfaces
  • Etch smooth concrete with Berger Concrete Etching Solution. Rinse surface after 30 minutes and allow to dry

Application Procedure:

  • Steel Float and Plastic Trowel required
  • Float evenly over the surface of the substrate with the Steel Float
  • Allow to set for 3 – 15 minutes
  • Use the plastic trowel in a circular motion over the surface to create desired pattern
  • 14 sq. m/19L container. 2.3 kg/sq. m
  • NB: Coverage will vary depending on texture chosen and surface condition
  • No thinning needed. Clan up with water
  • Ask for technical support on spray application

Solve Potential Paint Problems

The yellow cast that appears over previously painted white surfaces is called yellowing, and mostly occurs with oil paints.

What are the possible causes?

  • Use of oil paint in areas not receiving direct sunlight
  • Oxidation of alkyd or oil-based paint or varnish as it ages
  • Heat from stoves, radiators and heating ducts will turn oil paint yellow
  • Lack of light in dark areas such as behind picture frames, appliances and inside closets
  • Tobacco staining or other environmental contaminants

What is the solution?

  • Because of their drying process water-based painting systems fear better in enclosed areas
  • Water-based acrylic paints are non-yellowing
  • If your preference is for oil paint, ensure maximum sunlight to minimise yellowing
