    Since 1953, Berger Paints Jamaica Limited has been providing innovative, cutting-edge paint products and services, based on the Company’s long held ethos of delivering lasting beauty and protection to homes and institutions across Jamaica. Berger Paints Jamaica Limited remains the largest paint-manufacturing entity in the English-speaking Caribbean, with 95% of the company’s products manufactured locally. Backed by a strong technical support team, Berger Paints Jamaica Ltd. has conducted extensive research to develop paint products specifically for the Caribbean environment. Such research has led to brands including Berger 303 Flat Emulsion, 404 Gloss Oil, Everglow Low Sheen Emulsion and Magicote Flat Emulsion to become brand leaders in their respective brand categories.

    Berger Paints Jamaica Limited holds the distinction of being the first regional company in the paint sector to achieve the International Standards Organization (ISO) 9001:2000 Quality Mark certification in 2002. In 2006, the company attained the ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Standard. In the same vein of high achievement, Berger Paints Jamaica Ltd. has for over 45 years rewarded exceptional performers in sports, culture and education by sponsoring a number of annual awards and scholarships. Notable are Berger’s long-standing sponsorship of the Jamaica Netball Association and the Gibson Relays. The company also sponsored the Jamaica Basketball League for 30 years.

    In 1992, Berger Paints Jamaica Limited, became a publicly listed company on the Jamaica Stock Exchange recording some 6,000 local shareholders. Berger’s success is attributed to its strong and competent team of employees, 60% of whom have served for more than 10 years.

    BERGER PAINTS BARBADOS LIMITED

    Since 1967, Berger Paints Barbados Limited has been manufacturing and distributing a wide range of high-performing decorative, marine and industrial paint products in Barbados and across the Eastern Caribbean. The Company’s product range includes premium quality interior and exterior topcoats, primers, stains, varnishes, furniture finishes, road marking paints, enamels, as well as light and heavy duty industrial finishes.

    As a manufacturer of a wide range of high-performing products, the company sees itself as a paint solutions provider, backed by the highest level of experience in the industry and a strong and capable customer service. With years of experience in the paint industry, Berger Paints Barbados continues to innovate in the paint industry with the aim of meeting and exceeding the needs of customers who demand and expect value from a company such as Berger.

    The introduction of products such as Berger Weatherproof Ultra, Super Premium exterior emulsion and Berger Royale, Super premium interior pure acrylic emulsion, made a definite statement in Berger’s keeping pace with changing technology and consumer needs.

    Berger Paints Trinidad Limited has played a major role in Trinidad’s manufacturing arena since it started operations in the mid 1960’s.

    Berger became a household name in Trinidad from inception, and has over time established itself as a formidable entity. Known for its high quality products and innovation, Berger Paints Trinidad has today become a lifestyle brand. Like changing trends in style and fashion, and trends which change over time and season, so it is with colour, décor and interior design.

    Berger Paints Trinidad is the only manufacturer of large-scale industrial paint products in the English-speaking Caribbean and in addition to servicing over 190 local retailers, has been serving the export markets of Guyana and Suriname for well over 10 years.

Milestones

Berger Paints has strong roots in the Caribbean region, with operations and plants in key locations. Here are some of our important milestones in the region:
  • 1962
    British Paints started its operations in Barbados in 1962, at Garrison Hill and thereafter moved operations to a more spacious location in Bridgetown.
  • 1963
    Berger Paints Barbados Limited (BPBL) incorporated in June 18, 1963.
  • 1968
    British Paints amalgamated with Berger Paints Barbados Limited.
  • 1972
    BPBL was the first company in the English speaking Caribbean to manufacture environmentally friendly coatings and use water as a co-solvent for conventional alkyd-based gloss paint.
  • 2000
    Berger Paints Barbados Limited was awarded the Quality System Award (ISO 9002) by the Barbados Industrial and Development Corporation (BIDC) at their National Industrial Awards Ceremony.
  • 2002
    Asian Paints acquires controlling interest in Berger International Limited.
  • 2004
    Berger introduced the Colour World tinting system offering consumers 1,320 colours.
  • 2006
    Presented with an Award in Recognition of the Contribution to “Carrying out the Promise” by the Prime Minister’s Office -10-07.
  • 2012
    Achieved the ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System Award.
  • 2012
    Winner of International Business Outstanding Unit Award 2012-13.
  • 2013
    Celebrated its 50th Anniversary of operations in Barbados.
