Berger Roof Compound

Berger Roof Compound is an acrylic latex which is totally weatherproof.

Berger Roof Compound is a highly flexible water proofing emulsion coating ideal for preventing and stopping leaks on concrete, aluminium or galvanized zinc roofs and around nail heads. It stretches and moves with temperature changes, especially over seams; and it dries to a flexible, skin tight seal against weather.

Surface preparation:

  • Surface should be clean and free from all dirt and loose debris
  • Cracks should be filled using a mixture of 1 part Roofing Compound and 2 to 3 parts building sand (150 mesh)
  • Do not apply when humidity is high or the surface is wet

Application Procedure:

  • Apply the first coat with a roller in one direction after diluting 4 parts Roofing Compound with 1 part water to improve penetration and adhesion
  • Active, shifting or wide cracks, which have already been filled should be reinforced by laying a polyester gauze (mesh) over the crack, after applying the first coat
  • Saturate the gauge (mesh) with about 5% thinned Roofing Compound (1/2 pint water to 1 gallon roofing Compound) and allow to dry overnight
  • Apply the second coat without thinning after 24 hours drying
  • Minimum coverage is 40 sq.ft. per gallon at film thickness

Tips: Apply the second coat in one direction, but at right angle to the direction of the first coat’s application.
